Cable Advertising Sales Reports |
A large cable company needed a way to track sales
for local and regional advertising. Each cable system in the region
needed to be able to not only track their own sales people and their sales
targets and pipelines, but also pass this information to the regional
corporate office for inclusion in a regional report.
Because the cable operator did not have regional
database servers
or networking capabilities, we designed a system based on Microsoft Access
and passing data files from the individual cable systems back to the
regional office via e-mail. All forms and reports were created using
Access, which was selected because Microsoft Office was already the
preferred office application in the company and because of it's low cost
of development and deployment.
Before deployment, the individual cable systems required
a day each week of a secretary's time to create the individual report and
nearly 2 days each week of a secretary's time at the regional level to
retype the information into an Excel spreadsheet and create the desired
regional reports. After deployment of this application, each
individual cable system could create their reports in an hour and the
regional secretary was able to create the regional sales reports in less
then 3 hours.
